Li Keqiang Meets with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan

On the afternoon of February 5, 2022 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Premier Li Keqiang met with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who came to China to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.

Li Keqiang said that China and Pakistan are good friends, good partners and good brothers. China has always taken China-Pakistan relations as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, and supports Pakistan in advancing national prosperity and revitalization, and realizing independent economic development. China stands ready to work with Pakistan to consolidate strategic mutual trust, deepen the alignment of development strategies and strengthen comprehensive practical cooperation. He believes that deepening China-Pakistan cooperation not only can benefit the people of the two countries, but also the development and stability of the region and the world.

Li Keqiang noted that the past nine years have witnessed sound progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). China is willing to promote the building of the Corridor in the spirit of joint contribution and shared benefits, supports Chinese enterprises to invest in Pakistan, and appreciates the Pakistani government's efforts in safeguarding the safety of Chinese enterprises and personnel in Pakistan. China stands ready to work with Pakistan to better implement protocols of the free trade agreement, give active consideration to expanding the import of Pakistan's agricultural products to promote the balanced development of bilateral trades.

Imran Khan extended Spring Festival wishes to the Chinese people, and his congratulations on the holding of the splendid opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. He said that Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership serves as the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy. Pakistan firmly supports the one-China principle and China's position in all issues concerning China's core interests. Pakistan thanks China for supporting Pakistan in fighting the pandemic and safeguarding its national sovereignty, and offering help for the economic and social development of Pakistan in its difficult times. Pakistan is firmly committed to advancing the flagship project of the CPEC, and hopes to deepen bilateral cooperation in agriculture, science and technology, energy, finance, trade, investment, people's livelihood and other fields. Pakistan will make all-out efforts to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and projects in Pakistan.
