On July 10th, Counselor Wang Shengjie from Chinese embassy to Pakistan delivered a lecture upon invitation at the Foreign Service Academy. About 20 diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan were present at the lecture.
Comparing his two tenures in Pakistan within a decade, Wang talked about the changed and unchanged of China-Pakistan relations from a personal perspective. He pointed out that the cross-party consensus on China-Pakistan friendship is the ever-lasting driving force for our cooperation. With the launch and development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, bilateral relations have entered a new stage of all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. The successful visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China further demonstrated the rich connotation of China-Pakistan cooperation. The two sides will definitely achieve fruitful results by jointly building a high-quality "upgraded version" of CPEC and synergizing it with Pakistan's "5Es" development framework.
In Q&A session, Wang answered questions on the Afghan issue and the Gwadar Port. He also refuted the so-called "China debt trap" and criticized the "US dollar debt trap".
