On July 18, General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, Pakistan, along with nearly a hundred senior officers, hosted a special event to celebrate the 97th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China. Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, Major General Wang Zhong, Defense Attaché, and other Chinese diplomats, were invited to attend.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong expressed sincere thanks to General Syed Asim Munir for hosting the celebration event. In the remarks, he stated that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, and guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Strengthening the Military, the Chinese military has broken new ground in strengthening armed forces through reform, and has undergone an all-around revolutionary restructuring, providing strong strategic guarantee for comprehensively advancing Chinese modernization and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. China is willing to continuously deepen military cooperation with Pakistan and jointly build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
General Syed Asim Munir, congratulated the PLA and commended the PLA’s contribution to the defence, security and nation development of China. He further added that “Pakistan-China relations are exceptional and have long weathered the vicissitudes of strategic environment with mutual trust and unwavering belief in each other’s support.”
General Asim Munir concluded in his remarks, “Relations between Pakistan Army and People’s Liberation Army are strong, demonstrating the iron clad brotherhood between the two countries.”
