1. Brief introduction

CGGC Suki Kinari hydropower project (SK project) locates above Kunhar River, District Manshera, KPK province of Pakistan, the elevation of which is between 1300m and 2400m. The dam site of SK is 1956km from port of Karachi and 256km from Islamabad. The total gross installed capacity of SK Project is 873.508MW with the supply of 4 sets of impulse turbines. SK project is a foreign direct investment project by Suki Kinari Hydro (private) Limited. It is a joint venture by White Crystal Limited, Saudi Arabia (58%), Eden Inc. Behad, Malaysia (20%), China Gezhouba Group Company Limited (CGGC) (20%), etc. The total investment of SK project is USD1.96 billion with 6 years’ construction period. CGGC is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, with an amount of USD1.314 billion. This project composes of dam, spillway, intake, headrace tunnel, surge branch, pressing piping, power house, tailrace tunnel, etc.

2. Latest progress

The latest progress is stated as below until April 30th 2017.

1) Basic design report of this project is being reviewed;

2) Most of surveying work is completed;

3) First Chinese have been mobilized. One Chinese residential area is built and the other three residential areas.

4) Part of plants has been mobilized and construction is under way;

5) All land-use works have been completed, and part of lands has been transferred to the contractor.

3. Corporate social responsibility

The construction of this project will greatly help Pakistan to overcome the energy shortage. It will create more job opportunities, improve the living standard of local residents and increases the tax revenue of Pakistan.

1) Create local job opportunities and increase economic income of local residents. It is predicted that CGGC may hire over 4000 local Pakistani staff during the construction peak season.

2) Fulfill the tax obligation and increase the tax income of Pakistan. Since the project commencement, CGGC has paid RS. 4,384,731.00 taxes to Pakistan government, which increased the tax income of Pakistan.
