On May 21, 2018, the date of the 67th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan, the launching ceremony of The Belt and Road Passing the Love-- Charity Activity 2018 and Donation for Orphans, sponsored by Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and co-hosted by Chinese Students Union in Pakistan, was held successfully in Islamabad. This event was attended by Li Yuanling, counsellor of the Chinese Embassy and Ma Peijun, president of the Chinese Students Union.

Counsellor Li Yuanling, accompanied by the dean of the orphanage, noted in his speech that he was pleased to see that young college students, following in the footsteps of the older generations, are committed to making contributions to the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan. He encouraged Chinese students in Pakistan to persist in doing their best in those charity activities, contribute to Belt and Road Initiative with their knowledge and enthusiasm, and play the role asthe messengers of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

The donation for orphans ushered in the beginning of a series of The Belt and Road Passing the Love charity activities. During Ramadan, the Chinese student volunteers in Pakistan will visit more than 700 families in poverty, refugee camps, impoverished primary schools and several orphanages, and deliver living goods and school supplies to the people in need, including sports and fitness equipment, computers, printers, air-conditioning fans, schoolbags, clothes, food, edible oil, etc. The aim of those activities is to imprint the traditional friendship between the two sides on the hearts of the ordinary Pakistanis through caring donations, so as to carry forward the friendship from generation to generation.
